The purpose of this project was to study a design movement and apply its visual characteristics to a new context.

I selected the Futurist movement and took inspiration from Fortunato Depero’s Bolted Book (1927) .To demonstrate my understanding of Futurist principles, I recreated the stylistic features of Depero’s work, including bold geometric shapes, sharp diagonals, and experimental typography, in the form of an album cover.

The chosen album, …For the Whole World to See by the punk band DEATH, reflects a similar sense of energy and defiance found in early Futurist design.

The project focuses on analyzing and replicating historical design methods TO FULLY GRASP FOUNDATIONAL DESIGN PRINCIPALS

I adopted the color palette from For the Whole World to See to maintain visual continuity with the original album while integrating it into the formal language of Futurism. Both the Futurist and punk movements demonstrate a shared resistance to convention and an emphasis on speed, energy, and emotional intensity as drivers of creative expression. The composition reflects this intersection by merging the Futurist focus on structured experimentation with the punk movement’s raw, rebellious visual sensibility.
